Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has thrown down the gauntlet to former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, daring him to a wager on the results of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.
During a media interview on Monday, Wike dismissed El-Rufai’s recent statement predicting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would finish in third place in the next general election. He firmly rejected the analysis, labeling it inaccurate.
Wike assured listeners of his absolute belief that Tinubu would win a second term. To underline his confidence, he even offered to make a bet with El-Rufai.
“El-Rufai is my friend, but he got it wrong this time. His calculations don’t add up—if he says Tinubu will come third, then let him also tell us who he thinks will come first and second. I’m prepared to bet with El-Rufai: if Tinubu doesn’t win the 2027 election convincingly, I’ll pay up.”
In a separate story making rounds online, a Nigerian man was devastated after his car was consumed by fire, leaving nothing but charred remnants behind. The heartbreaking incident was captured in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @ChuksEricE, where the distraught car owner was seen being comforted by bystanders as they desperately tried—and failed—to extinguish the flames.
Despite the efforts of people at the scene, the fire proved unstoppable, reducing the vehicle to its bare metallic frame. The emotional moment quickly gained attention online as many sympathized with the man’s ordeal.
The video sparked an outpouring of reactions and messages of support for the car owner from users across the internet.
Here are a few comments:
@Odunolaspeaks: “Nigerians should come together and help him get another car.”
@ter015078: “If the money you used to buy that car was earned honestly, I feel for you; but if it was from Yahoo Yahoo, may it burn 20 times.”
@redchampagnebox: “Buying a car with scammed money from vulnerable victims never ends well. He might now feel the same heartache his victims did. Karma works fast these days.”
@SYVOZEEK149: “Was he really crying, or are my eyes deceiving me? The ritual must have worked—let’s watch for his comeback.”
