Tinubu Planning to Halt Obi’s 2027 Candidacy

The Obedient Movement has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of intentionally causing unrest within political parties where former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, expresses interest, in preparation for the 2027 elections.

During an interview on AIT Focus Nigeria on Wednesday, August 13, the National Coordinator of the movement, Yunusa Tanko, claimed that the Presidency is executing a hidden agenda labeled “Operation do not allow Peter Obi to have a ticket.”

“This government consistently stirs up controversies in every party associated with Peter Obi. We have previously accused this government of having an undercover influence in various political parties to disrupt the system,” Tanko asserted.

Tanko mentioned that despite government interference, parties like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Labour Party have expressed interest in nominating Obi as their candidate.

“Wherever Peter Obi is involved, they ensure his chances are limited,” he added.

“But rest assured, we will secure the nomination,” he confidently stated.

Tanko emphasized that Obi remains “the most popular presidential candidate in Nigeria and globally sought after for Nigerian interests,” cautioning against a repeat of the “historic injustice” suffered by MKO Abiola in 1993.

“We must not make the mistake of denying the most popular candidate the chance to lead. That setback would be difficult to explain post-election, similar to the tragic fate of MKO Abiola,” he emphasized.

Highlighting Obi’s appeal to first-time voters, Tanko remarked, “We now have a living, popular, and crucial presidential candidate desired by Nigerian youths who were previously disengaged from politics. Let’s give them that opportunity.”

As of now, there hasn’t been any response from the Presidency regarding these claims.
