Ghana – Receiving Daily Threats: Ablakwa Stays Strong

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu and Chairman of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) committee, discloses that he faces daily threats because of his anti-corruption work.

He acknowledges the attempts to intimidate him as a means to hinder his efforts but remains dedicated to his cause.

Speaking with Joy News, Ablakwa expressed:

Despite the daily threats, we stand firm. We trust in divine protection and draw strength from the overwhelming support of Ghanaians. We anticipate more threats and schemes from those opposing us.

He also points out the spread of false information and propaganda aimed at besmirching his reputation:

I have faced much propaganda, smear campaigns, and fake news. There are those who want to discredit and vilify me, but I remain undeterred. We are determined and focused on serving our nation and making a positive impact. I ignore these attacks and threats completely.

ORAL’s Mandate and Recovering the Loot

The five-member ORAL team, appointed by President John Dramani Mahama, aims to collect information on suspected corruption cases from various sources. This team, led by Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, is laying the groundwork for implementing ORAL.

The ORAL committee is comprised of Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, former Auditor-General Daniel Domelevo, retired Commissioner of Police Nathaniel Kofi Boakye, legal practitioner Martin Kpebu, and journalist Raymond Archer.

This initiative is part of President Mahama’s dedication to recovering embezzled state funds and bringing corrupt officials, particularly from the previous Akufo-Addo administration, to justice.
