Jim Iyke Explains Chasing Nollywood Producer with Machete

Popular Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has sparked fresh conversation after sharing the story of an intense encounter he had with a movie producer who approached him with a script involving a gay character.

In a recent interview, Jim Iyke made it clear he firmly rejects any roles that would require him to play a gay character, stating that such parts are not in line with his personal beliefs.

Detailing the incident, Jim Iyke explained that he actively sought out the producer who offered him the controversial script. When he eventually found the producer, the actor pursued him brandishing a machete.

He stressed that he only accepts roles that align with his values and standards, acknowledging that while films on sensitive subjects foster connection within certain communities, that path is not for him.

He also commented that while it is common for filmmakers to engage with controversial topics to appeal to broader audiences, he consciously steers clear of such storylines.

He stated: “I can’t roll with the gay guys, I’m sorry. I can’t wear skirt for nobody, I’m sorry. I know there’s a whole community, you know. I salute you guys, to each his own. We’re too much mill to get it twisted, yeah. The last producer that sent me his script along that line… the last… I located that guy with a machete. Immediately he saw me, he took off. I said, keep running, keep running, keep running. So, they’re trying to reach a wider spectrum of audience and, of course, the community in question will not, you know, okay or give them a nod of approval if you don’t touch on subjects that are sensitive to them.”
