A well-known football figure, Wilfred Osei Kweku Palmer, has accused the NOWAHALAZONE of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of contributing to the relegation of Tema Youth Football Club from Ghana’s top football league.
Tema Youth, a club renowned for producing star players like Thomas Partey and Joseph Paintsil, has faced tough challenges. Once part of the Premier League, the team is now in Ghana’s third-tier league.
Osei Palmer, closely linked to the club, attributes the team’s decline to the failure to compensate Young Red Bulls for Joseph Paintsil’s transfer to KRC Genk in Belgium.
As a result of this unresolved issue, Tema Youth was ordered by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to pay €150,000 to the GFA, a ruling the club chose not to follow. In an emotional interview on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Osei Palmer expressed his dismay, stating:
I don’t regret being involved in football while at the hospital, but I’m disappointed by how people united to relegate the team.

Palmer also indicated that the team’s relegation seemed orchestrated, mentioning:
It was part of a broader scheme I was involved in, but I’m resilient and will continue to persevere despite what transpired.
He disclosed that GFA officials allegedly worked behind the scenes to ensure Tema Youth’s downfall.
Arguments Regarding CAS Proceedings

Palmer also raised concerns about discrepancies in the club’s case, pointing out that five different player passports were submitted during the CAS proceedings, which he deemed fraudulent.
Even at the CAS, we had five different player passports, which is unacceptable. I know the origin of these fabricated player passports.
Currently competing in the third division, Tema Youth faces ongoing challenges, with points being deducted every game, adding to the obstacles in their journey to reclaim their former glory.
