Phyna Criticizes Dangote Group Over Sister’s Unfulfilled Medical Flight

Former Big Brother Naija star Phyna has spoken out, claiming that the Dangote Group has not fulfilled its commitment to send her younger sister, Ruth, overseas for urgent medical care.

On Wednesday, Phyna updated her followers on Ruth’s worsening condition, saying the situation has become extremely dire and immediate intervention is crucial.

Recall that Ruth was involved in a devastating accident on August 13, 2025, near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State. Eyewitnesses reported that she was struck by a Dangote Group truck allegedly operated by an underage driver without a license.

Tragically, the accident occurred just six days after Ruth’s graduation ceremony. The injuries she sustained were so severe that doctors had to amputate her left leg. Medical professionals have also warned that without timely and advanced treatment, her right leg could be at risk, too.

Following the incident, Phyna began discussions with representatives from the Dangote Group. She recalled that the company initially promised to arrange for Ruth to receive advanced medical treatment in India.

Before traveling abroad could be arranged, Ruth was moved to Lagoon Hospital in Lagos. At this point, Phyna was asked to obtain and submit a detailed medical report on her sister’s state.

Phyna said she promptly provided the necessary documents. However, she alleges the Dangote Group then shifted their position, stating they would need to obtain further medical opinions before making arrangements for her sister’s trip abroad.

She further noted that the company later asked for another medical assessment from Lagoon Hospital to determine if Ruth’s injuries could be managed locally or if international care was indeed required.

According to Phyna, despite meeting all these requests, the Dangote Group ceased to communicate with her. She stated that her contact at the company has not responded to her messages for over 24 hours.

In Phyna’s words: “Dangote is gambling with my sister’s life. Her lungs, bladder, and reproductive organs are gone. We agreed Ruth would be stabilized at Lagoon Hospital in Lagos before being flown abroad for treatment. Now that she’s there, Dangote Group insists on a statement from Lagoon confirming they can’t handle her case and that she is fit to travel. If it was Dangote’s own child, would he hesitate to send her abroad?”

“I have already sent the scanned medical reports from Lagoon, and the doctor has stated she will require a lengthy hospitalization due to the severity of her injuries. She hasn’t regained consciousness for days. The doctor also confirmed it’s risky, but Ruth is medically fit for travel abroad. Yet, since then, Dangote Group has stopped responding to my messages. No matter how powerful you are, sometimes it takes just one small thing to humble you.”
