Just Weeks After Takeoff, Enugu Air Faces Passenger Removal Controversy
State-run airline Enugu Air has landed in the spotlight only weeks after its launch, following a viral incident where authorities physically removed a passenger from one of its flights.
Over the weekend, dramatic video footage circulated online capturing the moment officials forcibly escorted a male passenger off an Enugu Air plane. Amid the commotion, background shouts of “Yes, yes, go down” reveal that some travelers appeared to agree with the decision.
The incident sparked confusion and disorder in the cabin as the unidentified man was taken out of the aircraft.
At the time of writing, neither Enugu Air nor the passenger has released any official comments addressing what triggered the removal. The individual’s identity has also not been confirmed.
Reports indicate the confrontation happened just as the Enugu Air-branded aircraft was preparing for departure, adding to the tension on board.
This episode is the latest in a series of headline-grabbing disputes involving Nigerian airlines. Earlier this July, for example, a passenger named Comfort Emmanson was seen in a video arguing with flight crew on an Ibom Air route from Uyo to Lagos.
In a related event, popular Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal—known as KWAM 1 or K1 De Ultimate—was also reported to have clashed with airline staff from ValueJet at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
