The FCT Fire Service Strengthens Partnership with Federal Fire Service (FFS) to Enhance Firefighting in Abuja
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service has reaffirmed its dedication to working closely with the Federal Fire Service (FFS) in order to bolster firefighting operations and emergency response within Nigeria’s capital.
This renewed commitment was highlighted during a courtesy visit to the Controller General of the FFS at the Service Headquarters, located in Area 10, Garki, Abuja.
During the visit, the Director of the FCT Fire Service, who led the delegation, offered congratulations to the Controller General on his recent appointment. He expressed readiness to fully support the Controller General’s new leadership and vision for the Service.
The Director emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation between the two agencies—particularly in the areas of training, capacity building, improved access to state-of-the-art equipment, inter-agency cooperation, and ongoing skill development for personnel.
In response, Controller General Olumode commended the delegation for their proactive engagement. He assured the team of the FFS’s commitment to provide critical support and upgrades to infrastructure and operational capability within the FCT.
Olumode revealed that the FFS is embarking on transformative reforms, including a comprehensive review of the Federal Fire Service Act, which is expected to be completed by December 2025.
He went on to explain that the Service will not only continue to focus on firefighting efforts, but will also broaden its mission to include expanded rescue operations and comprehensive emergency management services nationwide.
According to DCF P.O. Abraham, the National PRO and Head of Corporate Services at FFS National Headquarters, this spirit of collaboration is vital for advancing fire safety and effective emergency response across Nigeria.
The Controller General further pledged that the Federal Fire Service will remain open to joint initiatives with the FCT Fire Service and other stakeholders, all with the goal of protecting lives and property.
