FCT Fire Service Strengthens Ties with Federal Fire Service to Boost Emergency Response in Abuja
A renewed commitment to enhancing firefighting and emergency response in the nation’s capital has emerged as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service pledged to deepen its partnership with the Federal Fire Service (FFS).
This renewed collaboration was highlighted during a courtesy visit by top FCT Fire Service officials to the Controller General of the FFS at the Service Headquarters, Area 10, Garki, Abuja.
During the visit, the Director of the FCT Fire Service extended heartfelt congratulations to the Controller General on his new role, assuring him of total support throughout his leadership.
The Director emphasized the necessity of stronger cooperation between the two agencies, particularly in areas such as advanced training, professional development, modern infrastructure, and resource sharing to enhance the expertise of their personnel.
In response, Controller General Olumode expressed his appreciation for the delegation’s goodwill and underscored the Federal Fire Service’s commitment to providing essential support to boost firefighting facilities and operational capability within the FCT.
He further revealed that major reforms are on the horizon for the FFS, including a comprehensive review of the Federal Fire Service Act, set for completion by December 2025.
Olumode noted that the agency’s focus would extend beyond traditional firefighting, with plans to broaden its mission to include a wider range of rescue and emergency management services nationwide.
According to a statement released by DCF P.O. Abraham, the National PRO and Corporate Services Head at the FFS National Headquarters, the Controller General emphasized that stronger collaboration is pivotal in advancing fire safety and emergency preparedness across Nigeria.
He reiterated the Federal Fire Service’s commitment to ongoing joint programs with the FCT Fire Service and other partners, all dedicated to protecting lives and property throughout the country.
