The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has initiated a two-week fasting and prayer period to combat evil and promote peace in Edo State.
This spiritual practice, inclusive of residents domestically and internationally, commenced on September 26, 2024, and concluded on October 9, 2024. Fasting was observed daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The monarch stressed the importance of spiritual intervention, urging individuals to unite in seeking divine safeguarding and the restoration of peace throughout the state.
He highlighted that the prayers are meant to transcend religious boundaries, inviting participation from Christians, Muslims, and traditional worshippers alike.
The Oba explained that this collective endeavor will serve to preserve Edo’s cultural heritage, bolster unity, and shield the populace from harmful influences.
