Police Can Break Doors for Arrests – Deputy PRO

Deputy Force PRO, CSP Victor Isuku, stated that police officers have the authority to use various methods, such as breaking doors, entering through ceilings, or scaling fences, to apprehend uncooperative suspects.

Speaking at the premiere of the film “Greatest Oath (The Rescue)” in Benin, created by Ocean Portal and the Nigeria Police Force, he cautioned, “Don’t obstruct the police in apprehending a suspect, as you may face arrest as well.

Zone 5 spokesman, Tijani Momoh, commended the collaboration, emphasizing that it will increase awareness of the Police’s crucial role in maintaining security nationwide.

Regarding phone searches, he clarified, “The police do not randomly search phones on the street. It is improper, and the Inspector-General disapproves of such actions. Phone searches are conducted in cases of suspected cybercrimes.

He highlighted inadequate funding as a significant challenge and urged the public to provide support to the force through logistical assistance rather than cash incentives.

Dickson Oviase, the head of Ocean Portal, expressed, “The film was conceived in response to the #EndSARS movement… It underscored the absence of Police presence in our society. Let’s unite to strengthen community policing. God bless Nigeria.
