Joana Gyan Cudjoe, Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, has become an inspiration with her incredible journey of transforming a small investment into a multi-million-dollar gold enterprise.
Recently, at a conference in Accra, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) legislator recounted her entrepreneurial path, emphasizing resilience, integrity, and hard work as pivotal to success for young people.
Joana, also known as the wife of Ghanaian musician Keche Andre, shared that her gold business started with just GH¢7,000. A fortuitous meeting with international partners facilitated her entry into the gold export industry, propelling her to become Ghana’s leading female gold exporter since 2019. Her company has burgeoned, generating a remarkable $400 million in revenue.
Encouraging the youth, she stressed, “In entrepreneurship, integrity and truthfulness are everything. These values not only earn you trust but also attract the favor of God.”
In addition to her business triumphs, Joana Gyan Cudjoe is dedicated to addressing unemployment and enhancing education in Amenfi Central. She has launched two significant programs focusing on empowering youth and improving educational facilities.
One of her initiatives involved fully sponsoring transportation for 85 young individuals from her constituency to Sekondi-Takoradi for a Work Abroad Screening Exercise. This endeavor aims to offer successful candidates international job opportunities, allowing them to develop new skills while financially supporting their families.
Another project she initiated is the Schools Under Trees Project, aiming to replace makeshift classrooms in underserved areas with modern educational infrastructures. Collaborating with a cooperative NGO, Joana emphasizes community participation in planning and implementing to ensure sustainability: “This project aims to engage local communities in both planning and execution to guarantee sustainability and local ownership.”
