Controversial Nigerian artist Habeeb Okikiola, widely recognized as Portable, has received bail from the Isabo Magistrate Court located in Abeokuta, Ogun State
The Zaazoo Zeh singer was brought before the court on Thursday morning facing five charges, which include conspiracy, assault, obstruction, possession of weapons, and engaging in conduct that could potentially harm the public
Portable entered a plea of not guilty to all allegations against him. Alongside him, nine of his associates were also brought before Magistrate O. L. Oke on comparable charges. The co-defendants consist of Nurudeen Warris (21), Adetola Alashe (25), Samuel Adeleke (28), Oluwaseun Ayenuwa (19), Oluwapelumi Adeosun (20), Gospel Kanu (20), Precious Ohiegebo (19), Ifeoluwa Babatunde (27), and Fatimo Muhammed (26). They face accusations of felony, assault, and obstructing town planning officials while armed with cutlasses and firearms, allegedly with the intent to inflict harm and disrupt public order.
The allegations arise from an event involving three officials from the town planning department—Abidemi Onabanjo, Ramon Lateef, and Akinpelumi Oyero—who were allegedly assaulted while performing their official responsibilities at Odogwu Bar, a venue owned by Portable.
In response to the singer’s request, his attorney, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, made a bail application, emphasizing that Portable had expressed regret and gained insight from the circumstances.
Magistrate O. L. Oke approved bail for Portable in the amount of ₦2 million, requiring one surety for the same sum. Additionally, the court has scheduled the trial for March 5, 2025.
